the first three games of mortal kombat series are nothing short of legendary. in the first game you can choose your favorite character from the cast of fighters, each with their own fighting style and signature move, and you will have to do battle against an endless horde of increasingly more difficult opponents. this is the “arcade” mode of the game, where you take on a certain number of opponents before you can challenge an “empire” of ten opponents. playing this mode requires tremendous skill and precision, and if you get hit, you lose.
in the second game you will play in the tournament mode, which is somewhat easier than in the first game. you can play against a number of opponents in succession, or you can select a specific opponent to play against. in both cases, you must beat your opponent to win. the “vs” mode of the game is the hardest of the three, because you can only play against one opponent at a time. both players move at their own pace, and you can only attack the opponent who is in the red zone, which is indicated by a red light at the bottom of the screen.
in the third game, you can play in the “tournament” mode, where you play against the computer in a series of fights against progressively more difficult opponents, or you can play in the “vs” mode, where you battle against a specific opponent. in the “vs” mode, the character you are playing against moves along the bottom of the screen at his or her own pace, so there is no countdown timer. you can only attack the opponent who is in the red zone, which is indicated by a red light at the bottom of the screen.
